It is with great happiness and encouragement that we are announcing the hire of Shea Robinson to the newly created position of A PLUS Lead HS Life Coach. This position will be responsible for HS members’ academic management, graduation plans, college counseling, and basketball coaching. Shea coached with A PLUS for its first two years at the 4th and 5th grade level. He has coached competitive basketball over 10 years including high school basketball for Seattle Prep, Nathan Hale, and Lakeside. We at A PLUS are extremely grateful for the service Shea has given to our youth and are excited to have him back on the A PLUS team.

Shea will begin the new HS Life Coach position September 1st, 2012. At A PLUS it is our mission to use sports as a vehicle to provide youth with the educational resources and character development necessary for student-athletes to succeed in life. We feel Shea will help our members embody this mission. We are also confident his role as a Life Coach will help improve the A PLUS experience for our members and families.

A PLUS is happy to announce Catherine Wehage to the new position of Deputy Director. Catherine will transition to this role starting September 1, 2012. This position will be primarily responsible to support the Executive Director in the implementation of A PLUS’s strategic plans and policies as well as board development.

Catherine is currently the Research, Grants, and Administrative Coordinator. She has been with A PLUS for two and a half years after starting as an intern. Throughout these last few years, Catherine has been involved in all of A PLUS’s special events, secured grant funding, and served as the Strategic Plan Coordinator. She is committed and passionate about the A PLUS mission of using sports as a vehicle to provide the educational resources and character development necessary for student-athletes to succeed in life. With Catherine’s soon-to-be Master’s in Public Administration and nonprofit experience, we believe she is the right fit for the Deputy Director Position.

A PLUS is excited to announce Lara Mae Chollette to the new position of Development Director. This position will start September 1, 2012. The Development Director is responsible for spearheading development efforts including management, developing an annual campaign, and donor cultivation.

Lara Mae’s experience embodies the A PLUS mission of using sports as a vehicle to provide the educational resources and character development necessary for student-athletes to succeed in life. She comes from a family of educators and understands the value of education and she spent five years working for the NBA including a position as General Manager for the Development League in Bakersfield. We believe that her experience as the Director of Sponsorship and Promotions at Seafair and as a board member for the YMCA will help A PLUS’s development department become more diverse in funding and meet our organization’s goals.
