A PLUS Youth Program is an 11-month program for boys in the 4th through 12th grades and for girls in the 7th grade (with plans to grow the girls program annually).
The A PLUS Youth Program develops members’ understanding of the game while also developing their techniques, speed, and agility.
Try-outs are held in the fall of each year. Prospective members will be evaluated on their conditioning, basketball skill-set, basketball IQ, and desire.
Practice sessions are designed to operate multiple days a week with each session lasting approximately 90 minutes.
Members will participate in fall, winter, spring and summer leagues, as well as multiple tournaments throughout the year. A PLUS members will also have the opportunity to travel and compete against the best regional and national basketball competition.
In addition to promoting basketball skills, A PLUS emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship and good citizenship.
A PLUS and the Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse and Teen Center at Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club have established a group of experienced coaching professionals to assist with the instructional components of the basketball program.
